Buckle Up: We’re rocketing straight towards the holidays and that means gift-giving season.
While it feels like only yesterday we were celebrating the kick-off of Bourbon Heritage Month in early September, we’re now in the home stretch of the year. Liquor brands arguably introduce the largest haul of new products throughout October, November, and December. This is no coincidence, since these releases make great presents.
Just over the last few weeks, Heaven Hill announced a limited-edition bourbon celebrating the 90th anniversary of the distillery’s opening; Willett is now introducing a Small Batch Bourbon; and Bruichladdich is coming out with a rye whiskey, which is naturally named Laddie Rye. And if you’re looking for a deluxe present, Knob Creek just rolled out its oldest whiskey ever, a 21-year-old bourbon. Whether you’re buying a bottle for yourself or someone else, one of the biggest splurges is Michter’s prized and rare 20-year-old bourbon. The whiskey isn’t always available, but the distillery is releasing an allotment of bottles for the holidays, which will be in stores in a few weeks. It carries a $1,200 suggested retail price, but will no doubt sell for quite a bit more than that.
These are just a few of the new bottles hitting shelves this holiday season. And there are plenty more from tequila, rum, and Cognac brands, too.
When their bar is already maxed out, shift from “more bottles” to “better experiences.” Men’s Journal’s Travel Flight Gift Set. includes four TSA-friendly 3-ounce bottles ideal for packing samples of rare or hard-to-find whiskeys on trips.
Here’s hoping this all helps to make giving a truly excellent gift this year that much easier.
